Abstract
This new audio composition is a critical exploration of Australia's colonial history, specifically the Bland Shire and settler-colonial relations with environmental and ecological understandings. Drawing upon field recordings (our own), archival materials, and developed into new musical elements, the composition harnesses the evocative potential of soundscapes to narrate the multifaceted story of environmental transformation and ecological impact in the Australian colonial context.
Weaving together early settler accounts and contemporary environmental perspectives, this new audio composition exposes intricate layers of experience, displacement, and adaptation that exemplify the colonial encounter with the Australian landscape.
