Abstract

The school library represents a significant investment in resources and funding, and has the unique ability to work with and provide support for every member of the school and its community, and so it is understandable that principals expect it to be managed effectively. In the current climate, with many school libraries and the role of the teacher librarian under threat, a proactive and responsive approach to management and leadership is essential. The teacher librarian holds great responsibility, and the role may seem daunting. This text provides concrete advice by taking a professional approach to management that applies theories and principles to real-life situations.
