Abstract

John Paul Healy was born in 1964 in Dublin. Five years later he moved with his parents to Australia. After studying at the University of New South Wales, he now teaches at the Charles Sturt University in Australia, where he conducts research into new religious movements. Personally he was attracted at age 17 to Siddha Yoga, even if he has since distanced himself from it. But this final element in his contribution seems not quite right: the appreciation and love clearly smoulder on. In his text he tells of the power of attraction of Siddha Yoga, of its particularity, of the guru in oneself and finally his goodbye to Siddha Yoga.
