    Abstract

    Other Desert Cities by Jon Robin Baitz is a Tony and Pulitzer Award nominated play. The Australian premiere of this play was directed by Sam Strong (assisted by Kim Hardwick) and produced by the Melbourne Theatre Company. The set was designed by Callum Morton (International artist and current Head of Fine Arts at Monash University) with sound design and composition by Steve Francis ( Helpman Award winner) lighting design by Danny Penttingill and costume design by Esther Marie Hayes. The cast included Robyn Nevin, Sacha Horler, John Gaden, Sue Jones and Ian Meadows and the season ran from 2nd March 2013 to 17th April 2013 at the Sumner Theatre, Melbourne Theatre Company, Melbourne, Australia. Other Desert Cities is an exploration of a family in crisis. Former Republican senator and retired Hollywood actor Lyman Wyeth lives a comfortable existence with his wife Polly in Palm Springs, USA. But when their children Brooke and Trip visit for Christmas Eve 2004 the family is forever shattered by the revealing of a long held secret.
