Abstract
Teen films have always been filled with awkward, fumbling young people facing intense challenges and trying to figure out how to best carve out their place in the world. Another common feature is that these central characters are usually male. Suzie Gibson explores what happens when a complex, even unlikeable, young woman takes centre stage.
