Poetry Reading - Sospeso, Melbourne

I was the first poet to be invited for the 2010 Sospeso Readings which had established themselves as a place for new and regional poets to perform their works in suburban Melbourne. The Sospeso readings were innovative in bringing new voices and foci into metropolitan poetry circles. Often poets only had a few publications or were at the beginning of their writing and performing careers. Although the readings only lasted over two years, they were well-attended and remain celebrated in 'fringe'poetry theatres. I was delighted to be asked and it gave me an opportunity to 'try out' my new poems about Japan to a cultured, literate audience, themselves a modest but significant of the Australian contemporary poetry scene.
