Abstract

The 'Prepared for hope' web paper is part of CBM Australia's 'Prepared to hope' series. CBM describes the series as: 'From devastating bushfires to a global pandemic, 2020 required unprecedented resilience amongst communities around the world. Yet, for people with disabilities living in the poorest places the challenges are catastrophic and too often their inclusion in preparedness is overlooked. This Easter, we remember Jesus' example that no person is overlooked, no one is excluded, all are invited to the great banquet and the hope that Christ brings.'

In my opinion piece, I gently ask the question: Are you experiencing the complexities of life? My piece revisits the story of Joseph as outline in the Old Testament and shares the testimony of Joel, who is living with disabilities. These narratives remind that life is complex, and 'that thanks to God, .... you and I have a yesterday that makes us resilient, a today to bless others and a tomorrow for which to plan'.
