Abstract

The CSU Animation and Visual Effects Showcase is a completely remastered production of the original source material from the five years of Graduate Screenings for the unique demands of large-scale digital projection against the 50m x 8m screen on the Wagga Wagga City Council building. Embracing the rich history of traditional animation with the latest advances in industry-leading software, the students had meticulously crafted every frame (often with many layers) for the audience. The edit was over an hour of footage representing over 100,000 frames of work and four times the number for panoramic versions. Each film has been professionally treated to maximise various data rates and frame sizes to be fully complaint with the latest WATCHOUT software/hardware. Video problems were corrected in industry standard compositing/non-linear software and audio was unnecessary. The source footage has not been modified in any way that compromises the original look of the production and full acknowledgment of student’s intellectual property is respected. The videos are copyright protected and watermarked by a subtle university logo in accordance with CSU branding policies. Favourable feedback turned a two week run into a two month show which entertained audiences whilst advertising the students and exposing the acclaimed work done by the university.
