    Abstract

The project consists of the creation of 3 x soundtracks commissioned by The Riverina Eastern Regional Organisation of Councils (REROC). REROC is a voluntary association of nine General Purpose Councils and two water county councils located in the eastern Riverina region of NSW, including the councils of: Bland, Coolamon, Cootamundra-Gundagai, Greater Hume, Junee, Lockhart, Snowy Valleys, Temora, Wagga Wagga, Goldenfields Water and Riverina Water.

The research contribution, and contribution of new knowledge for this project is practice led in the creation of the entire soundtrack. The soundtrack provided many limitations in its creation, as I wanted to provide an authentic soundtrack based on only location sourced sounds, and no 'after the fact' rerecording, or post-production sound creation. The main talent, Jeffrey, is not a trained actor, so in order to provide the best performance, I again used only original takes. The challenge of the project was to create intelligible dialogue from sounds that had a) been recorded by non-professionals and b) had huge amounts of background noise, often drowning out the required audio. Through repeated trial and error, I created a noise reduction workflow that allowed the main dialogue to be intelligible, and at a quality that passed television standards for broadcast.
