Research output: Other contribution to conferencePresentation only

Abstract

The majority of health professionals are based in metropolitan areas, yet half of the world's population currently live in rural and remote areas. Challenges exist in attracting and retaining health workers to these areas which is widely recognized as a significant contributor to poorer health outcomes. The shortage of allied health professionals in these areas is also an issue given the role in providing rehabilitation and chronic disease management. There are a number of factors that can influence the recruitment and retention of allied health staff to these areas and we need to be considering these factors as part of support this rural and regional health workforce.
