Abstract

This is a short communication based on our research experience in Nepal. The article discusses: i) climate justice and gender equality as drivers that shape reproductive justice outcomes; ii) how the nexus of reproductive justice, gender equality and climate justice should inform policy, legal and institutional mechanisms; and iii) how the intersection of reproductive justice, gender equality and climate justice are important in countries with variable resources, increasing climate instability, entrenched patriarchal norms and restricted ambit of reproductive justice. The justice-centric approach offers a holistic examination of the structural barriers that influence reproductive outcomes, including climate change and gender dynamics, and plays a foundational role in shaping the broader landscape of reproductive justice. A reproductive justice framework offers opportunities to capitalize on the existing research, policy and practice to advance the reproductive justice realm in the face of entrenched gender inequality and climate change.
