Abstract
Working as a researcher who is employed on contract – whether casual or fixed-term, full-time, part-time, or patched together by multiple commitments – has always been precarious. Together, the three authors of this article have over 25 years of experience working on research contracts, some for as few as 30 hours while others have extended over several years – and we recognise that we have been incredibly lucky.
