Abstract

This report was prepared for the Essential Services Commission (ESC) and documents the results of an analysis of the statutory reporting practices of Victorian water businesses. The report focuses on the extent to which these reporting practices provide relevant, reliable and comparable information on infrastructure assets. The report identified a number of significant opportunities for improvement to statutory reporting practices and was utilised by the ESC’s as part of their formal submission to the Review of Victoria’s Framework for Economic Regulation of the Water Sector.
