Abstract

The work of public school SLPs across the US was disrupted by COVID-19. This presentation focuses on lessons learned post-health emergency and the newest information about student progress in schools and regulatory changes resulting from the pandemic. Learn about states' approaches to equity in education and non-discriminatory evaluations and post pandemic strategies to document educational impact and support families & school SLPs. A review of the newest research for evaluation and treatment of school age students and tools to practice at the top of your license will be reviewed. The State Education Agencies Communication Disabilities Council (SEACDC) will provide information on free resources and methods to unite school SLPs.

Other"Rising UNITED," is a celebration of the resilience and resourcefulness of communication sciences and disorders professionals in the face of adversity. Audiologists and speech-language pathologists, students and researchers encountered unprecedented challenges in 2020, but ultimately, through their ingenuity, found innovative solutions to service delivery, teaching and supervision, and made important advances in research. We have grown in strength and knowledge over the past year, supported by our colleagues and the professional community. The 2021 ASHA Convention will be our opportunity to celebrate our resilience—together.
