Abstract

The Gulbali Institute for Agriculture, Water and Environment, Charles Sturt University (CSU) was engaged by the Riverina Local Land Services (LLS) to undertake a survey for the threatened Squirrel Glider Petaurus norfolcensis in the Tarcutta - Ladysmith area in the southwest slopes bioregion of New South Wales. The aim of the survey was to obtain information on the distribution and relative abundance of Squirrel Gliders within a 10 km radius (~315 km²) study area to inform the development of a Local Area Management Plan (LAMP). The methodology used in this study was adopted from the Burrumbuttock LAMP Squirrel Glider baseline study conducted by The Australian Research Centre for Urban Ecology (ARCUE) in 2014. This report summaries the results of surveys conducted between February and May 2023 and provides recommendations for increasing the Squirrel Glider population in this region.
