Abstract

What is rural and remote health? Well, trying to find a set definition is a bit tricky. So many people have said so many things over the years, and of course, such a definition is country and setting specific. For the purposes of this special edition, we thought of it as any (child and adolescent)nursing that occurred in areas outside metropolitan areas, that is, in country—rural—areas. Remote health is a bit different, and very much country specific. Remoteness has definitions—at least in Australia. The most commonly used is that of the Australian Bureau of Statistics (2018),“a measure of relative access to services”.
