    Abstract

Shadow Places was a series of 12 large-scale, site-specific outdoor artworks in the Narrandera landscape that features video projections onto hay bales, with sound and accompanying textile installations. The artwork is informed by the writings of Val Plumwood and explores our human and non-human histories.
As part of the CAD Factory Shadowplaces Event along the Narrandera Traveling Stock Reserve, on Buckingbong Rd, Narrandera audiences were invited to wander the site at night and during the day to encounter the artworks and lighting installations. Julie Montgarrett's commissioned artworks included - 1. Vanishing Point 4 - a new work based on an earlier River installation from 2015 including 10 new large-scale textile panels; 2. DoubtfuL Cradles - 9 site-specific textile basket forms created in response to the history of the Travelling stock route for the Shadowplaces Event; 3. Public Presentation speech as part of the opening Event for shadowplaces, Thursday October 26, 2017
