Abstract

Inspired by the art history of Egyptian khayal al zill (theatre of the imagination), I developed eight original shadow puppets for "The Thief of Stars". Sam Bowker researched, designed, drew and assembled the puppets, as well as manipulating them during the performances. Timothy Crutchett translated Sam's original drawings into vectors, then adjusted, calibrated and operated the laser-cutting system to create the component objects.
