N2 - This study proposes a method of socioenvironmental assessment to give support to planning installation of new Small Hydroelectric Plants in Minas Gerais State - Brazil. The method uses information from Ecological and Economic Zoning, data processing in geographical information systems and the technical of decision support Analytic Hierarchy Process. The weighting of the weights obtained the consistency ratio value 0.0689 according AHP method. The results analyzed in the regions PN3 (Lower Paranaíba tributaries) and PS2 (Tributaries of the Pomba and Muriaé Rivers) were, respectively, 0.68% and 0.98% of restrictions in the "very high" class.
