Abstract
The author takes up the theme of cultural diversity in the bush and employs the double-sidedness of culture to focus on a particular aspect of Australian country life with a view to addressing two questions. Firstly, 'are country communities culturally diverse?' and secondly, 'in what ways do the culture of country schools help to limit the cultural diversity of the communities in which they exist?'
