Abstract
Teacher Librarians (TLs) enact a complex and distinctive role. Qualified in education and librarianship, TLs synthesise these areas to fulfil a role that is greater than simply a teacher who manages resources. TLs infuse teaching with a rich knowledge of literature and curriculum resources, as well as expertise in information and digital literacies. Yet research reveals that many TLs feel that their position in the school is insecure and misunderstood (Merga, 2019a). These feelings are borne out in dwindling numbers, as school administrators redirect funding toward other channels (Softlink, 2016a).
