Abstract
For a novice director, tackling the obstacles of script interpretation, blocking and communication of these ideas to the actors can be overwhelming if they do not have the correct tools to achieve it. Within this paper, we will investigate how novice directors can interpolate the successful US actor training model of Practical Aesthetics, into a directing process for contemporary directors on text‐based plays.
By focusing on Practical Aesthetics key principle idea of Script Analysis, my objective is to adopt a clear method of process for the aspiring director, so that they too can have the practical tools needed to bring a current text‐based play to life for the audiences of today and, in doing so, the playwright the respect that their play deserves.
