Abstract
I curated this exhibition from the extensive permanent collection of ceramics as held by the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery. I explored two concurrent themes in this exhibition, firstly, the idea of glaze quality where I examined a range of excellent examples of classical glazes as taken from the chinese and Japanes potters, eg, celadon, teadust, hare's fur and tessha, hence the title, Surfaces of seduction. The second theme overlapped the first whereby the ceramic artists involved were also the ones who pioneered the studio pottery movement in Australia from the 1950s onwards.
