Abstract

This book is about: understanding the requirements for documentation, assessment, and evaluation, and learning about methods of documentation, assessment and evaluation. It draws on research, as well as interviews conducted with Service Directors, Educational Leaders, Early Childhood Teachers, and Educators to illustrate different methods of documentation, assessment, and evaluation. The benefits and limitations of particular methods of documentation, assessment and evaluation are discussed; as well as how those limitations might be lessened. This book includes a section for Service Leaders that draws on interviews with Service Directors and Educational Leaders to discuss practice models for integrating effective documentation, assessment and evaluation processes. The main message is that strong pedagogical leadership, mentoring, professional development, time and resources are key factors to consider.
