Temperature and heat

Research output: Book chapter/Published conference paperChapter in textbook/reference bookpeer-review

Abstract

When we talk about temperature and heat in everyday language, we usually mean the same thing. However, in physics these two terms have specific meanings. At a basic level, temperature refers to how hot or cold an object or system is. We will explore a more comprehensive definition of temperature as we progress through the chapter. Heat refers to the transfer of energy because of a difference in temperature.
