Abstract
Anorexia Nervosa (AN) was the first eating disorder to be studied in the 19th century and has a multifactorial etiology. Individuals with AN have traits of perfectionism, low self-esteem, anxiety, introversion and low body weight. The objective of this study was to carry out a theoretical study on anorexia nervosa and its implications in the daily life of the individual who suffers from the disease, discussing the possibilities of Occupational Therapy intervention. The research strategy used was that of a bibliographic review that was carried out in the electronic databases: BIREME, LILACS, MEDLINE, PUBMED and SCIELO, using the descriptors Anorexia Nervosa and Ocupational Therapy combined, and the same in English. The sample consisted of 32 articles, of which 11 were used for the preparation of this work. only seven studies descriptively listed Occupational Therapy interventions in the care of patients with AN. No study was found on the effectiveness of the occupational therapist's intervention in the treatment of individuals with AN, nor recent and specific publications on the subject, not even in the foreign literature, which suggests that more scientific research on the subject should be carried out and published.
