Abstract

Based on the then-unpublished 'The Jar Made of Stone' (2019) by Christopher Halburd and illustrated by Tracey Jones, 'The Alchemist's Jar' was a major creative work. It includes the development of more than twenty original shadow puppets, translations of two songs from French and Arabic, the collaborative writing of original music (lyrics and notation), and world premiere performances over three concerts at the CSU Riverina Playhouse, supported by a major events grant from Wagga Wagga City Council and multiple arts organisations, including the Riverina Conservatorium of Music, Charles Sturt University, the Booranga Writers Centre, the Curious Rabbit and Eastern Riverina Arts. This performance was internationally peer-reviewed and led to multiple subsequent seminars and grant applications.
