Abstract

This book is a collection of essays and articles written by the author over a period of about 12 years looking at specific aspects of New South Wales Police Force history, uniforms, medals and badges. It does not purport to be a complete history but rather looks at specific areas of interest such as the Native Policing Corps that existed under New South Wales auspices in what is now Victoria and Queensland between 1837 and 1859. There is also an article on the history of women in the NSW Police Force commemorating the 100th anniversary of the first policewomen joining the NSW Police Force in 1915.
