Abstract

The Catholic Epistles found canonical recognition late in the fourth century. Though 1 John and 1 Peter found broad recognition earlier, the rest found recognition as the group of seven Catholic Epistles. Thus they shared a common path to recognition and this chapter seeks to show that the Catholic Epistles shared more than a common history os struggle for recognition.
