    Abstract

Sixteen of David Gilbey's poems are included in this a new, 440 page English-Chinese parallel text anthology the noise of exchange: twelve Australian poets, Kit Kelen, (ed.) ASM Poetry, Macao, 2011. This anthology is part of a long-range publication program of translating Australian poetry into Chinese and publishing major anthologies in bilingual editions to promote cultural understanding and bridge the gap between Australian poetry and Chinese writing. The 16 poems were selected in consultation with the translators and the editor. Some were chosen for their Australian - and regional - significance, some to show the range of my poetic oeuvre and more than half for their particular connection with Asian culture (especially Japan).
