    Abstract

Information literacy is the ability to identify an information need, locate and evaluate that information, and then effectively and ethically manage, apply, and synthesise the selected information.1 In higher education, information literacy is an identified transferable skill set that students should develop throughout their studies. 2 Law students have the added complexity of needing to use and understand the legal research process and resources.3 The law student’s ability to support their findings with the right resources is essential, impacting not only on their studies, but also on their future careers.4 The development of information literacy skills can be supported by the curriculum and teaching staff, but the key players in information literacy instruction in higher education are academic librarians.5
