Abstract
This article explores the construction of Miami as an apparently unlikely site for the suburban gothic in the Showtime television series 'Dexter'. Focusing on the story arcs of seasons 4 and 7, it analyses the apocalyptic imagery of serial killing in the abject spaces of the glittering globalised city Miami and argues that the series' mounting melodrama is grounded in the suburban gothic tradition.
