Abstract
This paper considers the relation between philosophy and theology, and argues that, in a variety of respects, the two disciplines can enjoy a cordial and mutually supportive relationship. Much contemporary work in philosophy of religion and philosophical theology can assist theology. In particular it is argued that philosophy can serve theology by bolstering its presuppositions and by illuminating the relation between faith and knowledge.
