Objectives of this chapter
1. describe key developmental tasks and transitions in infancy.
2. explain attachment in relation to the infant-parent relationship and development across the lifespan.
3. identify key aspects of care which will support optimal development and successful transitions in infancy.
4. consider therapeutic play approaches to enhance infant-parent relationships including how to support parents to recognise and respond to normal behaviours and development in their infant.
