Abstract
Beginning formal schooling is a time of change and challenge for children, families and educators. There are many reports of what matters to the adult participants in this process, and fewer reports considering the transition to school from children's perspectives. This paper focuses on one approach by the Starting School Research Project to engage Kindergarten students as co-researchers in a study of what they think new students to school should know.
