Abstract
This chapter examines the theme of uncertainty in relation to religion. It does this by way of ten provisional theses: five general theses regarding religion in contemporary society and five theses exploring uncertainity from within the Christian tradition. The first five theses are developed in relation to fundamentalism in religion and the second set of theses develop a positive account of uncertainity in religion. In this latter respect particular attention is given to innovation, diversity and undecideability in religious life. The chapter closes with a proposal about communities of patience within an uncertain world and the link this might have for religious faith.
