Abstract

This paper discusses the outcomes of four focus groups held in the Central West of NSW, to gain an understanding of landholder attitudes towards, and perceptions of, land stewardship in Australia. An understanding of what and why people do what they do is seen as an essential attribute for the advancement of enhanced land management practices in the future. Land managers are often criticised for their actions in relation to the land they manage, however, their appreciation of and for their land is poorly understood. This study is aimed to gain an understanding of the role of land stewardship in Australia.
