Other | The 11th International Symposium on Grapevine Physiology and Biotechnology, initially planned for October 2020 in South Africa, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The new date for ISGPB2021 is now confirmed for 31 Oct to 5 Nov 2021 and the symposium will be held under the auspices of the International Society of Horticultural Science (ISHS). The symposium was intended to take place in the historical and picturesque town of Stellenbosch, situated in the heart of the SA grape and wine industries. However, the current and ongoing uncertainties of the pandemic required a change in the original in-person format of the symposium to a fully online format. The local organising committee, supported by the Scientific Committee, did not take this decision lightly and although disappointed that we will not be able to welcome you to South Africa and the Cape Winelands, we are committed to offer an exciting programme and ample opportunities to share and exchange knowledge and ideas, albeit virtually. The on-line platform will include live scientific sessions with panel discussions, workshops and table discussions, pre-recorded presentations, a virtual poster booth, and virtual visits to chat rooms. The symposium will cover research topics in grapevine physiology and biotechnology under the theme of “Grapevine Interactions”. This is an exciting time in grapevine sciences, where increasingly we seek to understand the genetic potential of grapevines, while studying and unravelling the complex interactions between the plant and its environment. The local organising committee warmly invites you to join us for the ISGPB2021 – your presence and scientific contributions are essential to deliver an exciting programme and to showcase the latest research and technology developments from around the globe in the fields of grapevine physiology and biotechnology. |
