    Abstract

This work is a visual response to the interplay between the metaphors of light, life, and water in the Gospel of John. The Australian outback offers a unique and compelling canvas' on which to set the evangelist's text. The blessings of light, life and water in the arid heart of the country allow the Gospel to be seen afresh by Australian readers, retrieving the visual aspect of the Gospel and offering a new and original Australian reading of the word.
