Abstract

This article continues the tradition of publishing an annual conference “plenary” article. The Voice and Speech Trainers Association (VASTA), this journal’s sponsoring organization, met in person from June 27 through June 29 2024, for its first of three symposia this year, in lieu of the usual annual conference. “Innovative Voice” was the first official VASTA gathering in Australia, held at the Victorian College of the Arts in Naarm (Melbourne), Victoria, Australia. The following reflections seek to highlight not only the expansive reach of voice practitioners, but also the tight-knit communities we share; and how often times, pondering “innovation” can lead us back to our roots.
