When good intentions fail: How an 'authentic' design problem prompted made-up solutions

    Abstract

    The article presents a study on engineering design practices of four teams over the course of an eight-week design project. The study aims to see if designing sustainable solutions, prototyping and brainstorming were effective in obtaining the intended learning outcomes. The study highlights the difficulty of having projects more authentic when performed within a curricular setting
