Abstract
An article published in the Sydney Morning Herald in March this year sparked a huge amount of debate about whether a person without a teaching background could effectively run a school. But it does open up the question – what skills does a principal need to be an effective leader?
The workshop will encourage participants to reflect on their own management and leadership skills, identify gaps in their own skill set and conduct their own training needs analysis. The presentation will be interspersed with individual and collaborative activities using brainstorming, personal audits and reflection.
