Abstract

This session analyses the gender dynamics of violent extremist movements. It provides a comprehensive overview of both top-down gender dynamics, i.e. how and why violent extremist groups target and recruit women, and bottom-up gender dynamics, i.e., why women are motivated to engage in political violence, and their roles in violent extremist movements.
